Millbrook Resort Fact Sheet
Millbrook Resort, then a 450 acre wheat farm was established in the 1860s by French brothers John and Peter Butel from Normandy who established the farm to feed hungry miners who flocked to the region in search of wealth from the gold rush. The rustic remains of the farm live on in Millbrook's restored buildings and The Avenue of trees that still welcomes visitors just as it did 150 years ago. The commanding arrival at Millbrook Resort to this day is framed by the trees lining the Avenue, these magnificent trees were planted in 1867 and stand as a monument to the founders. The resort is situated on the 45th parallel in the South Island of New Zealand, nestled within the Southern Alps and framed by the aptly named Remarkables Mountain Range.

In 1993 the current owners, the Ishii family, set out to create a resort of international standing built in harmony with the environment and what they have created blends seamlessly with the modern day requirements of guests.
